So many things [Amreitha 8-15/30]

8. I like that Amreitha grew up in rural Kansas. She’s a small town girl at heart. This helps her experience the excitement of big cities in a fresh way. She grew up with cows, wheat fields and her hometown still doesn’t have a stoplight.

9. I like that Amreitha grew up Charismatic Mennonite (her grandpa was raised Amish). Her family’s Anabaptist theology challenged my charismatic and word of faith theology quite a bit. Now, I embrace much of it as my own.

10. I like Amreitha’s height. She’s the perfect hugging size for me. She is 4 foot 10inches. People often think I’m much taller than I really am because I take most my pictures next to her.

11. I like Amreitha’s lips. They are full and look great.

12. I like that Amreitha was the graduation speaker for high school and college—just like me.

13. I like that Amreitha’s adventurous. She’s always down to explore a new place with me. We’ve lived all over the country, visited several countries and even lived in South Korea (we visited in North Korea too).

14. I like that all my friends eventually like Amreitha more than me. She’s easy to like.

15. I like that Amreitha is a go getter. She’s created jobs for herself. She’s created degrees at Colleges. She’s gotten colleges to accept credits from other colleges. She’s started a non-profits and churches (more on that later)

Voice [Amreitha 7/30]

Amreitha has a great speaking voice. The tone of her voice is very soothing, and I like it. People often say she has a great voice for radio. I’ll talk more about her public speaking abilities, but the tone itself is something I’ve always enjoyed hearing.

Clip Art & Friends [Amreitha 5-6/30]

5. Amreitha is passionate about clip art. She loves using it any chance she gets. I don’t know one other person passionate about clip art. Many people have made fun of her for this devotion, but she’s never backed down. I like that she likes clip art

6. Amreitha is passionate about the show friends. She’ll never turn down watching an episode. She has most of the episodes memorized. Watching an episode for the 20th time still brings her to laughter and tears. I like that she likes the show Friends.

Talker [Amreitha 4/30]

Amreitha is a talker and I like it. She’s always down to chat or verbally process. People who don’t open up to anyone open up and talk with Amreitha. Maybe that’s why she’s such a good preacher—the girl has got the gift of gab. It’s amazing how she can communicate exactly what she’s feeling, and ask people the right questions. Also in social settings, she carries a lot of our conversations, and then sets me up to deliver a cringe inducing pun—that’s also something I really like.

Curry [Amreitha 3/30]

Amreitha grew up eating midwestern Kansas food. When we got married, she learned how to make my dad’s famous chicken curry. She worked diligently on the recipe until she got both my sister’s and my father’s approval (not an easy feat). This dish helps me stay connected to my family and culture, and I’m grateful she made the effort to learn how to make it. I like that she is the kind of person who learns how to make someone’s favorite food.

Singer [Amreitha 2/30]

2. I like that Amreitha is a singer

Amreitha is a classically trained vocalist. She sang for America’s most Chorus America award winning choir in Minnesota, and even made the front page of a German newspaper for a vocal solo she did with a Mennonite Choir. She led worship back in Michigan when I pastored there, and sang in our old band “BrownFolk” with me. She can sight read music and rap along with DC talk songs. I’ve always liked that she’s got a song in heart and mind.
